Description of Scoop Coupling A scoop coupling, also known as a variable speed fluid coupling, transmits power between a motor and a load while allowing for variable speed control. It does this by circulating oil between an impeller and runner, with the speed being adjusted by varying the amount of oil in the coupling. This is achieved using a scoop tube that can be moved to change the oil level within the coupling.
